My holy grail
I’ve been obsessed with spats for some time now, I bet that like, half the projects on this blog will end up being various spats.
I finally started working on my pattern again a few days ago. These are the first ones sewn from the pattern. The fabric has been lingering in a slow painful death buried in the bottom of my scraps pile for years, it was an old thrift store skirt.
Problems: The pattern is a bit wonky. Piece C needs to be about one inch wider so that the ankle girth will fit a healthy robust lady like myself. Note to self: fix pattern and remake PDF.
At some point I was working on another project and changed the thread in my machine to be black. Hence, one of these spats has some ugly black thread visible.
Also, I kept screwing with the tension for this fabric and never quite got it right.
That being said, they are still pretty cute and would certainly fit a girl with skinnier ankles than mine. Anybody want ‘em?
