With a strategically placed cucumber
I am liking Martha Negley’s vegetable fabric. How hilarious is this lettuce leaf (tossed salad anyone?) yard?! Or this fruit one, love the lemons and kiwi pieces.
This is the sort of fabric that, after a few glasses of wine, I will be all yelling, "omg, I NEED A DRESS MADE OUT OF THAT!"
And then suddenly, there I am, resplendent in a dress covered in asparagus, three sheets to the wind and vomiting on your front lawn. It’s hot (as in HAWT) I tell you.
I am going to cave and buy some joel dewberry fabric (I’m thinking a dress with this as the skirt and this as the bodice and trim, whatchu think? The other way’round maybe?) but after that, and after I buy backing (maybe I will have to order light blue real minky dots fabric) for my other two half-assed baby blankets, i will buy no more fabric until I actually use up some of the stuff I have already. I have half finished projects, half started projects and half-baked ideas coming out my wazoo. Something’s gotta give and it starts tomorrow.
Tomorrow I will be making a duct tape dress form so that I can sew an easy dress made from some old bird covered curtains I got a urban outfitters a few years ago. This dress will end up being see thru since the fabric is. I guess I should line it but that would add, like, 40 years to the project for me. Instead I will go buy a slip.

the joel dewberry fabric dress sounds ace – i think you have it the right way around: birds on skirt, pattern for bodice and trim. can’t wait to see it. god, i wish i would get off my ass and get my machine out of the garage and make something pretty.
