Free spats pattern pdf
Y’all will look at this and be all like, “girl, why did this take you so fucking long”? And I’ll, be all like, “Dude, you do realize you are looking at the 50 trillionth version. Step off”!
This is the pattern I use to make spats for my ankle boots. The split toe look is nice but if you are wearing long pants the spats can end up hidden so my next iteration will have a rounded toe.
The next version will also have the version to use to make spats for men’s shoes.
Oh crap, I just realized that I left off the elastic placement on this version.

I love the spats you made me! They still don’t have elastic, though!
Whenever I wear them people faint with envy.

For me it’s not about the spats per se, it’s the /word/ ‘spats’. Spats spats spats. Spatspatspatspats. It’s just such a great word. I’m going to start randomly substituting it for other words. “Dude, that outfit is totally spats.” “Uh, I feel like spats.” “Oh noes, our daughter spatsed all over the bathroom floor!”

Thank you so much for posting this pattern. I make Steampunk clothing, and this was very easy to modify to make a ‘great white hunter’ set of spats in canvas, with leather buttons.

I’m going to try to attach foam frog toes to green felt spats for 15 frog actors in Honk! to be perfomed this July in New Braunfels, Texas. Thank you for your generous creativity!
