Yesterday I got myself all het up thinking about how I will REFUSE to be FORCED to freaking make valentines and other holiday shit for Jack’s classmates. And how annoying it is to have all this annoying holiday crap shoved down my throat all the time telling me to BUY BUY BUY.
And then, I realized that
a. Jack is only9 months old and wont have classmates for like 3 years.
and
b. That this valentines day I have NOT be inundated with stupid valentines day crap. because
1. I do not have a TV and thusly no stupid commercials hit my eyeballs
and
2. I have pretty much not been in a store for like 4 weeks.
So that’s how you avoid this holiday stuff. you know, I just don’t like it being shoved down my throat and then I get annoyed by the horrible road side stands that are selling utter crap to people. Someone made that crap, shipped it, assembled it, hired someone to sell it… UGH!
Of course I can’t really claim to be above valentines day completely. I do like a valentines day gift and Vim always makes me the BEST card ever.
So while drunk this weekend I begged Vim to get me a Sun Brother’s solar rose… for valentines day. Every time we go over there I am coveting their roses, the modest ones! Plus, he was getting to go to their party and I was staying home with baby. So clearly… the only answer was for me to get my very own solar sculpture.
We got a nice long stem rose with a green patina. It’s SO GORGEOUS! I love it. I want to lick it.
I’m not sure exactly what th computer chip in there is doing…. like how it controls the colors but the first day it was only doing red and green and then yesterday I made sure to position it in a stream of sunlight and then it started doing all the colors and then it changed up the color sequence at about 10 at night. So maybe it is random or has to do with how much power it has stored up.
Anyway, it is beautifully crafted and you should check out their web site and buy one.
They also make peas and corn plants. hehe.

M. cut out pictures of animals and construction paper to fit around them. For his least favorite teacher he gleefully used a very gross slimy frog with its tongue out. I did help with the cutting and pasting just so it wouldn’t take till 10pm.
