Zipper madness!

I’ve been sewing little zippered pouches lately. The first one I did I got VERY confused and I dreamed about it. I think I often have trouble with spatial relations. The next day I trundled down to RC to ask mamapajama but I figured it out without having to ask her.

She did suggest that when you have your fabric sewn together and still wrong side out and you are trimming the corners to do it at a pretty steep angle, that will make the corners look even better.

This one was for badger to match her spats:

and another one:

Once you know how it’s pretty eay although I am still working on the corners where the zipper mets the fabric.

I was excited to FINALLY use my cow girl fabric on something that I will actually USE. I mean, who doesn’t need  a million little zippered pouches? I have at least 3 in my purse right now.  Badger and I got that fabric years and years ago in santa cruz at that little fabric store over by the harley dealership and Bea’s Koffee Kup. Hey thinking about that make me want to take a road trip to santa cruz!! hmmm. maybe next week.

I can’t find the zippered pouch tutorial I originally used but this one actually looks better and the fabric she’s using is so cute: twelve 22 zippered pouch tutorial.

Speaking of zippers I just bought some separating zippers for the steam punk spats I am making. I could only find super long ones and really I only need mine to be like 4 inches long. So I bought a zipper repair kit and have looked up how to shorten a seperating zipper. I doesnt look daunting and I’ll probably get around to it next week.

  1. That is so super cute. Do you use a pattern a free form? I just pulled out my sewing machine because of temptation from utterly cute fabrics… Little sugar skullls were calling me and my favorite buddha statue print… Little zipper bags are perfect.

I too suffer from significant spacial relations issues which has made for some very interesting sewing and craft results.

  2. Those are so cute! I love the cowgirl one.

  3. The sacs are lovely, I just bought al kinds of zippers yesterday in a sale shop, all kinds off colors, but i find it fucking difficult to stitch the god damn zippers in!
Sorry I am tented to use rude words to now, it is so funny that you do this all the time.
Sometimes it is so comforting to do this.
When we have a lot off stress from the children we do this just for fun and to lighten up things (me and my man)

  4. This is great.
We have a thrift store that sells tons of never-used, still in package, zippers for a dime to a quarter. I have a little stash and I’ve been meaning to make some pouches. I got lucky the first time I tried to make a lined pouch and could never figure it out again!
