A bag of apples

I recently encountered a strange phenomenon. Some one handed me a small plastic bag of commercially prepared apple slices. Why not just an apple, I ask you?! An apple is a wonderful little compact thing that stays fresh without the use of chemicals all on it’s own. It requires no packaging and the parts you don’t eat are easily composted.

I’m just wondering what in the world people are thinking when they came up with this and then what they are thinking when they purchase them.

Golly gee, thank god I no longer have to wield a knife in order to consume sliced apples!
Pheew! no longer do I have to open my mouth wide enough to take a bit of a full sized apple!

Just buy an apple FFS.

  1. they hand them out at mcdonalds instead of fries with kids happy meals. by the time you get the apples out of the plastic bag and get all the pieces of the plastic happy meal toy out of their little plastic bags, there’s plastic bags flying all over the playground. oh, not that i’ve taken the twinkle to maccas or anything… no…

  2. I’m dumb enough to buy nearly anything and this has me boggling! Bag of apples! arrrrgh!

  3. Those apple snack bags make me insane! And, it’s worse that they also sell snack-size bags of pre-sliced apples packaged in a larger outer bag. Apparently it would take too many brain cells for the people that buy those to put some apples from the big bag into a re-usable container.

I just hand my kid an apple so that his little mouth can cut it in to perfect bite-sized pieces. Oh yeah, and sometimes we eat them RIGHT OFF THE GROUND from under the apple tree while receiving disgusted looks from the people that feed their kids toxic, chemical-laden, pre-sliced, pre-counted apples from snack bags.
