Project Fail and Recover and Fail

CRW_8141Witness one pair of cute slingback sketchers from several years ago. boooring but cute. I swear to god the first time I looked at the label for these it was leather upper but no, synthetic, which seems more likely for a pair of 30.00 shoes. Despite that I trundled forward and used leather dye on them… with odd results of anvy blue and a coppery color.
CRW_8142 So I made a trip in a raging hurricane with Jack to pick up some leather PAINT. It worked much better and now I have some bright blue shoes.

The thing is that the reason I didn’t wear these shoes very much was that they are too big and guess what?! They are still a bit too big.

The leather dye and paint were both pretty easy to work with.

I have a pair of white Miz Mooz boots (leather) that I could use the blue dye on and it would stay more true to the dye color. But those boots are too big for me too. Anything pre pregnancy, before I realized that I am actually a 6.5 not a seven, is too big for me but I can’t seem to let them all go. I think I’ll put a toe insert in the blue pair to see how that improves the fit.

  1. Oh my god I LOVE THEM!!! If they don’t fit with an insert, they wouldn’t be wasted because you could send them to me. :-)

All serious jokes (even though I wasn’t joking) aside, I would say that they are quite a success – first a steal of a deal and then excellent results with the paint. Well done, Minnie. Well done.

  2. They do look extremely gorgeous and yummy. I have a pair of steel toe cap boots – metallic purple and covered in black cobwebs. I think they were mis-sized as they are labelled up as my size but they swim on me. Trouble is I love them sooooo much I could never part with them. I clunk around in them every now and then with about 3 pairs of socks on ;)

    gorgeous!

I wish I could convince myself to wear shoes that aren’t either black or red mary janes
