Maker Faire: World Famous DIY Art, Craft and Tech Festival Now Accepting Craft Vendor Applications to Bazaar Bizarre!

Applications Due on March 16th for Bazaar Bizarre Maker Faire

This is a two-day event being held on May 22nd and 23rd, 2010
Saturday 10am – 8pm and Sunday 10am – 6pm. (Not Memorial Day Weekend)

This Bazaar Bizarre event is happening as part of Make and Craftzine’s San Mateo Maker Faire 2010. The entire event takes place at the San Mateo Fairgrounds. Last year’s Maker Faire drew over 75,000 attendees. Please see http://makerfaire.com/ for more program information. The Bazaar Bizarre is held indoors. More details about the event will be available to you if you are accepted as a vendor.

Bazaar Bizarre supports artists and craftspeople that appeal to the aesthetic of the “indie art and craft scene” and have innovative approaches to traditional craft forms. There is a $10 application fee to apply. Full Vendor Fees collected AFTER Acceptance.

Getting Excited About Maker Faire and Bazaar Bizarre!!

Okay! I am officially VERY EXCITED. Also, VERY NOT PREPARED. You like how I did not prepared in all caps and bold? I’m trying to emphasize. Do you get it?

The universe is laughing up it’s sleeve at me. Some time last week I was on the phone with a friend telling her all about my new improved shit togetherness. “Yeah,” I said, “This time around I have my shit together I started gathering it WEEKS ago.” *pats self on back*

FF to today. In getting some of my shit together I neglected other parts of getting ready to the point of head in sand, didn’t even read emails etc.

I’m not stressed though… It will all work out and plus I am very excited! Although I did lose my shit this morning when the baby sitter did not show up and so I missed my hair appointment and it totally fucked all my other plans for the day. I survived. It was very hard to mentally shift gears but I managed it and I swallowed my disappointment like a grown up curled up on the couch in tears.

Look, I got new business cards!

I changed my blog template to match!

Also, the skirt I am making is SO CUTE! I will post photos tomorrow and I’m working on my skirt tutorial as well. Maybe it will be done tomorrow too.

Bazaar Bizarre San Francisco

Bazaar Bizarre was fun!

I went over to the county fair building on Saturday to help with general set up (btw, it’s great fun to volunteer at this sort of thing) and, because I am weird like that, had a satisfying time setting up a million tables.

I slacked a bit with my gigantic coffee and pondered setting up my table. I didn’t need much room and the stuff I bought fit on my table pretty well. I went with the taupe velvet curtain panel from Ikea and couple of cute pieces of luggage to use as display.

On Friday Vim took a special trip to work to make me a laser cut sign. and it’s his own design! It looks good no? I wonder if it would look good silk screened on to a t-shirt?

Sunday I picked up my friend G and she helped me arrange. I was very glad she could come with me in the morning as I needed her organizing, arranging mojo. With out her I would have been all dithery and annoying.

Sorry for the gross camera phone pics. I forgot the camera. Which I REALLY regret since I could have taken pictures for a good vendor round up post on the Bazaar Bizarre Blog. Darn it!

I had a moment of sudden realization that spats are pretty.. er… specialized. Mostly everyone wears jewelry but surely only a very few will be remotely interested in spats. But dammit, spats are so cheerful. I swear when I wear them it make my day. I like the casual split toes to wear everyday with jeans and at the fair I wore some fancier grey velvet with jet buttons ones with a skirt.

I sold about half of my spats (17 pairs about) and made enough money to feel pleased with myself. Enough money to feel like I DESERVE a present. hahahaha.

I am now moving on to Spats V3.0. These will be taller and the buttons will be more towards the front and in a curvier line. Also the under shoe elastic needs to be adjustable to accomodate platforms and heel-less boots. I need to create a whole new pattern and also, since I have lost the first one, make a new pattern for men’s spats. All of which, of course, will be posted here for free for NON COMMERCIAL use.
